Jangdan is the northernmost stations of the Gyeongeui line in South Korea. The site is in the middle of the Demilitarised Zone, the representation of the tension in the peninsular; and whether the construction will begin or not heavily depends on how the both sides of the DMZ make effort for reconciliation and unification. The site therefore has so much meaning for the nation, as it will be a barometer of how likely the unification of Korea is. The curved roofline of the station points north, which represents a bridge of unification; it is an expression of the nation¡¯s long-cherished wish for mutual peace and respect.
