This is a main stadium of Tianjin city where some of the 2008 Beijing Olympics’s games will be played. The city council’s master concept for the city as a “city on the water” has influenced the design of the “stadium on the water.” Also, the design concept of the movement of ripples and a lotus flower reflects the nation’s intention to hold “Green Olympics” in Beijing, 2008. The creative design of the roof structure, he organic integration between each facility, and harmony of the water space have all been favourably commented upon.
